One of the most legendary insurers of Greece passed away – He was the first MDRT member of the country

The legendary insurer Manos Markoglou passed away a few days ago. The longest-lasting insurer in Greece began his career in the United States insurance market as part of a career week with the Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company of Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1956. Then, he went on to America with Continental American of New York returning to Greece in 1964 as the first person of the country who became MDRT member.

Manos Markoglou, apart from Insurer, was also an academic. He taught in America and Greece at the Panteion University as an extraordinary and regular professor and from 1979 to 1990 at DEREE.

Manos Markoglou went in Alico (now MetLife) in 1965 when he resigned from a government adviser and with a special permit from the Ministry of Education became an insurance adviser. A property that lasted more than 50 years. One year after starting with Alico it became Unit Manager, the world’s first, and one year after, he had hs own Agency which was also the world’s first.

Manos Markoglou always believed in the institution of insurance and the institution of the Agency, especially in our days, when in one of his last interviews with the ”Insurance YES” he stated that: “This season is the most suitable for the development of branches better than ever, because there are thousands of young children remarkable and unemployed. “

Ηισ advice to new insurers is “τo work hard and honest by believing in themselves and in their function.”

Manos Emm. Markoglou was born in Athens. His funeral was done on Tuesday 29th of May 2018 and the Members of Communication Committee MDRT Greece and the Country Chair, Kyriakos Chatzistefanou, declared their honest condolences to his family and they sent a wreath of flowers.
